Abstract

Los ramnolípidos (RLs) son glicolípidos producidos principalmente por cepas de Pseudomonas aeruginosa, que han sido ampliamente utilizados en la biorremediación de hidrocarburos y en la formulación de productos de cuidado personal. Los RLs presentan baja toxicidad y alta biodegradabilidad en comparación con los surfactantes sintéticos; por tanto, se consideran la próxima generación de biosurfactantes. Sus aplicaciones se extienden a las industrias farmacéuticas, cosméticas y alimentarias gracias a sus propiedades antifúngicas, antimicrobianas e inmunoestimulantes. P. aeruginosa también produce polihidroxialcanoatos y pigmentos como la piocianina, valiosos en la producción de envases y textiles. Sin embargo, la producción de RLs en México ha sido poco explorada, principalmente debido a la falta de información sobre sus aplicaciones y el costo de su producción. Este artículo busca destacar los avances tecnológicos en México relacionados con la producción de RLs y de otros compuestos por P. aeruginosa, y así promover su escalamiento industrial en el país.
